DECORATING YOUR NURSERY
There is more to decorating the nursery than just the baby bedding.
So many things to do to get ready for baby's arrival.

FIRST THINGS FIRST!
Make it easy for you! Consider selecting a room in your home that's close to
the master bedroom. If space permits, have a comfortable chair to rock baby
to sleep.
Pay attention to the direction your nursery faces. Sunlight streaming into
your child's room during most of the day or even street lights beaming into
the nursery during the evening might make sleeping a bit difficult.
SELECT YOUR COLORS!
Choose a basic decorating color scheme and build on it over the years. By
basic, I mean it has no particular theme or look to it.
Pick a piece of fabric with the colors you love and build from there using
color, texture and pattern. Add accessories to baby's room to create a
theme. Pictures & throw rugs are a great inexpensive way to create themes
that are easily changed.
Pastels are sweet, but research shows that infants thrive around primary and
bright colors.
WONDERFUL WINDOWS!
If light streaming into the room is an issue, consider inexpensive light
blocking roller shades with a cute top treatment. Or go with a cute roman
shade with a light block lining to coordinate with the baby bedding. A neutral
solid color or small pattern can be used for years in the room.
WHIMSICAL WALLS!
Kid proof washable paints on the walls. Painted stripes, polka dots or
harlequin patterns are always fun. If you want to keep things more subdued,
try a light hearted border around a neutral wall to add some personality.
Chalk board paint below the chair rail is great for that budding little artist
that toddles.
FUNCTIONAL FURNITURE
Consider furniture that will grow with your child. A crib that will turn into a
toddler bed, an armoire that will store little pieces of clothing but can easily
be turned into a computer desk in later years.
BE BRAVE!
Remember...they don't stay babies for long. Have some fun and be creative.
